Who benefits from the sale of Native American jewelry and crafts?

I went to a festival of the Cherokee Nation in Pennsylvania and recently bought some jewelry from some Indian vendors. There were some vendors who were – I just said, do not appear to be Native Americans or any type of colored (but could be wrong and could have been blooded Lenape) – they were selling some pretty ridiculously priced items high. They said their works came from the southwest, but his business was in Florida. I heard them say a few other people of color without the product go to some kind of tribal, but my friend warned me that this supplier could be lying and not believing. There were some great pieces, but could not afford any of them but also felt a kind of way about these people selling things at a high price pow-wow. If I were to buy an expensive item, I prefer to buy directly from the artist's native itself.

I'm glad you're thinking about this. The sad truth is, jewelry made in Southwestern Native artists are often purchased by natives and then failed to score 2000% or more. just another example of a system that keeps indigenous peoples down. If you ever have the opportunity to go west, look for these people and buy directly from them. and were probably right about people in PA. there are many "Pow wows" there are not more than meets wannabe. themselves are called many things, but not more than whites playing Indian. proceed with the thumbs down, because the truth hurts.
