Costume Jewelry Pearl Necklace
Can you give me some tips about a string of antiques?
So I have this necklace, and I suppose it is technically a chock, and belonged my great grandmother. That I have had since I was a kid and I suppose the piece must be at least 50 years of age. I've always liked the necklace because it reminded me of Audrey Hepburn wears in Breakfast at Tiffany's: http://images.forbes.com/images/2001/10/10/pow_400×475.jpg mine has 3 rows of pearls and Jewelry Center similar but smaller. I think that would be considered costume jewelry. The jewels in the center are false, however, the pearls may be real, or at least cultivated. Over the years, the collar has taken some abuse. Two strings of pearls (one on each side) have collapsed. I have the pearls, but I wondered about how much it would cost to repair it. And where could take to do? A regular jewelry store? Or do I have to find some sort of specialty store? It is too delicate for me.
A store regular jewelry might restring his collar and a knot between beads or pearls to protect them. If the rope broke, no pearls will roll across the floor. Do not know how much it costs have pearls restrung and much less if you wanted to put knots between each pearl, but probably would be expensive. I suggest you go to a store account and register for a class of stringing beads. They'd teach you how to repair your special collar that would have all the tools you need, you'd have fun and also learn a new skill. Who knows. You can find out after seeing all the accounts and results in the shop would like to make another necklace. Bead stores have all thicknesses of thread so you probably have the correct type for your project.
